Facebook & Instagram Attribution System

  • Facebook and Instagram use a last-touch attribution model, which means they will attribute full credit for a conversion to the last ad the person clicked or interacted with on each channel. If the person did not click on an ad, full credit is attributed to the last ad viewed. If they clicked on the ad, it will get attributed to the last ad clicked. If they didn't click, it is then attributed to the most recent ad seen.
  • Click-through attribution may include engagement clicks, such as likes, comments, or shares on your ad. This means if someone liked your ad, conversions would be attributed to the click-through attribution window you've selected.
  • If one person clicks on an ad multiple times in a short period of time, advertisers will treat these as duplicates, and only count it as a single click in our reporting.
  • Any events outside the maximum conversion window (up to 30 days) are not counted.
  • Numbers will continue to update through the 28 days following the end of a campaign. If you're pulling your ads attribution data into your own models or data storage, you may want to backfill it with the final numbers after the full 28 days have passed.
  • Conversions and actions are counted in your reports on the day the click or view happened.Ā

Limitations of the Reddit Pixel

  • View conversions are only captured when the Reddit Pixel uses third-party cookies. No view conversions are captured when using first-party data.
  • No tracking with third-party wrapped click-through URL: If the advertiserā€™s destination URL is wrapped with another third-party tracker, Reddit will not be able to measure conversions using first-party cookies. Our recommendation is to avoid wrapping destination URLs with third-party trackers in order to take full advantage of the Reddit pixel.
  • Conversion tracking is dependent on browser settings: Browsers are making it easy for users to opt-out of third-party tracking cookies, and are setting automatic cookies restrictions, which limits the ability to accurately measure conversions.
  • Cross-device and cross-browser conversions will not be tracked.
  • Any conversions happening via Private/Incognito mode will not be tracked.
  • Tracking accuracy is impacted by user privacy settings.
